When to use a 2 and ½ Turn Door Handle Coil Spring:
A 2 and ½ turn door handle spring is used when the door handle mechanism requires a spring with a specific tension to return the handle to its resting position after being used. This type of spring is often found in handles where the spring needs to be pre-tensioned by rotating the handle a specific amount before it can be secured in place with a circlip. If a 2 and ¼ turn spring is used instead, the handle might droop or not return to the horizontal position properly.
Install notes:
Springs are fitted with the handle raised above the horizontal position. Springs are then pre-tensioned (wound up) by up to ¼ turn before the cam washer is refitted with the handle/lever horizontal.
A pair of external circlip pliers is required to remove and replace the retaining circlip (available elsewhere online).
